Community Involvement
As a key element to the WISA Code of Conduct, the association encourages two-way, ongoing dialogue with neighbors in the communities in which our members operate. The employees who work at our facilities are also neighbors, and we want to play an active and positive role in those communities. This might include supporting local educational programs, promoting local environmental projects, developing wildlife habitat or supporting other community activities.
WISA and its member companies are also supporters of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire’s Responsible Mining Initiative, a program with the goal of preparing “highly qualified graduates for work in the mining industry, the environmental consulting industry, and in regulatory agencies such as the DNR.” Furthermore, it emphasizes mining in a environmentally responsible manner, which is a shared value with WISA. Our organization and our individual members are proud to back this educational program.
